Julia is an Australian native English speaker. In 2008, she graduated with a Combined Bachelor of Media and Communications and Bachelor of Laws from Macquarie University, Sydney. Julia spent seven years working with the Australian Government, primarily with the Australian military, advising in international humanitarian law, criminal law, and government administrative law. During this time, Julia undertook a number of international postings working as a Legal Advisor with other governments, NATO, the United Nations, and the International Committee of the Red Cross. Julia was responsible for overseeing the legal training and certification of hundreds of civilian and military personnel working in East Timor, Iraq, and Afghanistan, to ensure Australia's compliance with international law. Julia also spent one year in Afghanistan; working in justice system reform, which involved teaching Afghan judges, prosecutors and police, Afghan criminal law and human rights law. In 2016, Julia moved to the United Arab Emirates, and worked as a commercial lawyer. In 2018, she completed the University of Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA), as she realised her interests lay beyond law - she loved interacting and teaching in the cosmopolitan commercial environment of Abu Dhabi. Julia's passion is to empower law students and lawyers to be confident with their English and the common law system, in a relaxed and enjoyable teaching environment.
